Mail question

Mon Sep 22, 2008, 12:37 PM
Little help here

Any suggestions on how to package 11x17 bristol board art to send via USPS?  I have a load of art to send out, and the only thing that is easily commercially available is the 11x17 boxes from FedEx, and I have too much to send out that way.   In the past, I've cut up boxes to sizes to fit the board, but at this point it is a bit ridiculous.  Any help is greatly appreciated.  :)

A lot to mail.

I use Office Depot Photomailers in that size - they're water-resistant, too, and sometimes you can get them for cheap. They're just cardboard, but they're roomy on the inside, so you can send a fair amount, even bubble-wrapped.

Thanks for your help with this (and the other things as well). :)

Don't just use flimsy cardboard, I'd do what Dub suggests, bubble wrap with boxes is your best bet. Whenever someone sends me bristol with just cardboard it always comes somewhat damaged.

Thanks for the second! :) This is all original art, and the last thing I want to see is it damaged.

I used to work for UPS and I found that if you use just the bubble wrap packages your boards will still run the risk of damage. I would suggest you use both cardboard and the bubble envelopes.

I bought 12x18x3 boxes in bulk from a local box supply company. Call around and see if you have a supplier near you.

Thanks! I feel like an idiot for not thinking of this first.
(Looking forward to seeing the new Cap book coming out soon :) )

We Use OfficeMax #6 Bubble Wrap Cushioned Mailers and reinforce those with either cardboard or foam-board/core. (It's like poster board with a foam center -- you can get it at Hobby Lobby or Michael's.) I like to go over the self-sealing end with packing tape to make sure it won't pull off. Hope that helps!
